The Artist
Tadhg Slater is an American painter working between Provincetown, Boston, and New York. His practice engages the physical and psychological conditions of painting through large-scale abstract works rooted in historical material traditions, including rabbit skin glue grounds, linen supports, crushed marble gesso, and lead and cadmium pigments. Slater’s work examines endurance, tension, and the residue of lived experience, emerging through an intensive, process-driven studio practice.
Recent work has focused on the relationship between environment and duration, most notably in the series Concrete Winter, produced while working through the winter in an unheated concrete studio on Cape Cod. Slater has exhibited in Boston and New York and has developed a growing following among artists and collectors drawn to the physical rigor and material depth of his work.
